For the golf enthusiast there are three world-class, 18-hole golf courses in Stellenbosch. Stellenbosch Golf Club that has hosted many prestigious tournaments; Devonvale golf course offers a regular challenge to both local and international golfers, and De Zalze that has an excellent mix of parkland holes and water features. Six more golf courses are within 30 minutes drive of the town.

Nature-lovers are spoilt for choice as horse trails and cycle trails meander through fynbos, mountains and vineyards. Some wine farms can be visited for wine tasting, sundowners or refreshment in the cool shadow of ancient oak trees. What about a unique strawberry safari?

See Stellenbosch from a bird’s eye view in a hot air balloon. Sunset and early morning flights are available in neighbouring Paarl from November to May, and include Stellenbosch.

Get up close and personal with the fastest land animal on earth, the cheetah and interact with owls and other raptors at the eagle encounters centre, visit the zoo on the outskirts of Stellenbosch, the magical Butterfly world, Lion park, Giraffe House animal sanctuary and Crocodile farm.
